SELF-EMPLOYMENT
BUSINESS PROGRAM
The
Self-Employed Business (SEB) Program provides financial assistance
for individuals who want to start their own business.
The
SEB Program, which is funded by Human
Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) and delivered by Elgin
Community Futures Development Corporation (Elgin CFDC) is 32 weeks
in duration.
The
Self-Employment Program offers income benefits to assist new entrepreneurs
with their personal living expenses while they are establishing
their businesses. Income earned by the business can then be reinvested
back into the business allowing it to become self-sufficient once
the funding ends. Successful applicants, to the Self-Employment
Program, receive entrepreneurial training and counselling, throughout
their funding year, to assist them with preparing their business
plans and managing their businesses.
Individuals
who are currently in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) or individuals
who have been in receipt of EI recently, may qualify for this
program. It is required that individuals contact the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada Centre to determine if they are eligible for
this program.
Individuals
who are eligible will be referred to the Elgin CFDC for assessment
of suitability to participate in the SEB Program.
