Have you just moved into Malahide??  If you have a current dog tag issued by another Municipality, please bring the tag into our office and we will exchange it free of charge for a Township of Malahide Dog Tag.

The Township of Malahide has implementing a new dog tag licencing e-commerce application. Effecive immediately the Township will no longer be selling dog tags on a door-to-door basis.  It is now the Dog Owners responsibility to obtain their dog tag.

If you are a landowner, and by authorizing the Township to do so, the Township will automatically send out your 2007 and 2008 dog tag.  The $15.00 payment will automatically be placed on your 2007 and 2008 interim tax bill.  If you move from the Township or if you no longer have a dog, please contact the Township Office and we will stop the process.  In 2009 new notices will be sent out for the next 3 year period.

Tenants or new dog owners will need to obtain their tags annually

Dog Tag Fees

1 dog tag for the 1st dog - $25.00 or $15.00 if paid before March 31st

2 dog tags for 1st and 2nd dog - $55.00 or $35.00 if paid before March 31st

3 dog tags for 1st, 2nd & 3rd dog - $105.00 if paid before March 31st

Please note there is a $10.00 discount per tag is you purchase your dog licence before March 31st of the current year.  This is reflected in the fees listed above.

Failure to register your dog for a licence or failture to renew you dog licence will result in a fine of $105.00.

Kennel Licences

If you want a Kennel Licence you must provide proof to the Township Office that you belong to the Canadian or American Kennel Association. Please note that a Kennel Club Licence issued by the Township only means you belong to the Canadian Kennel Association or the American Kennel Association - it does not mean your property is zoned to operate as a Kennel. The Township by-law permits you to have a maximum of 3 adult dogs on the property. Anyone wishing to operate a Kennel must be zoned for the same. All questions with regard to this should be directed to the Clerk, R. Millard at 773-5344.

 

Stray Dogs

Municipal Offences Corp. has been appointed as the Animal Control Officer for the Township. Please contact Municipal Offences Corp. at 519-633-3911 to pick up stray dogs.

It is very important to note the dog needs to be confined prior to calling Municipal Offences Corp. Dog owners who permit their dog to run at large may be subject to a $130.00 fine.

Having difficulties catching and confining the dog?

The Township has a cage that may be useful in catching the dog. Please contact Mr. Don Weir , at the Township Office, 773-5344 for further information.

Cats

The Township of Malahide does not pick up stray cats.
